Our engineering team optimized every part of the acoustic chain from the 42 mm in-house transducer to the transparent mesh in the baffle to work together with exceptional balance and clarity.

The deep back volume and new acoustic mesh, for example, ensure smooth upper mids and lower treble. The result is a natural and balanced sound experience typically unseen in a closed headphone. The HDB 630’s onboard electronics keep your music pristine from source to ear. aptX™ HD and aptX™ Adaptive Bluetooth® codecs recreate high-quality content wirelessly. When you want the purest possible signal, you can also plug in via USB C and listen to high-resolution, lossless files. Not to mention the included audio cable, which lets you plug into any 3.5 mm jack for maximum compatibility. Powerful adaptive noise cancellation in a closed architecture quiets the world without affecting your music, while transparency mode lets you hear your surroundings when needed. The crossfeed feature is great for classic tracks with hard-panned mixes. It takes instruments concentrated on one channel and balances them out, creating a much more natural listening experience — like hearing the track on a full stereo system.

Parametric Equalizer

Previous equalizers only provided limited benefits, whereas our new parametric equalizer gives you full flexibility to adjust your sound exactly to your needs. The parametric equalizer available via the Smart Control Plus App lets you shape your sound exactly how you like it — down to the smallest detail.

A standard graphic equalizer lets you boost or cut within preset frequency bands — handy for quick adjustments, but not ideal if those bands aren’t exactly where you want them. The HDB 630’s parametric equalizer puts you in the driver’s seat: you can set the exact frequency range you prefer, control the bandwidth to make that adjustment wide or narrow, and choose the filter type for even more precise shaping. This flexibility lets you tailor vocals to your preference, adjust brightness, or fine-tune bass — without affecting the rest of your music. It offers a level of control rarely seen in wireless headphones, perfectly complementing the audiophile tuning. Whether you’re an enthusiast chasing the ideal audio or simply exploring, full parametric control lets the HDB 630 match your personal definition of perfect sound.

Room for Improvement

Imagine wearing five pairs of sunglasses on top of each other. Not only would you look a bit silly, but you probably wouldn’t be able to see much either. The same thing happens to audio signals when they are throttled multiple times. On a modern smartphone, you will find quite a few of those bottlenecks, starting with the volume control buttons, certain system settings such as “Reduce Loud Sounds”, and some well-hidden accessibility features. And of course, there may be settings in your favourite music app(s) that affect the signal volume. Your HDB 630 is the last link in this chain, so the louder the signal you feed it, the better!

First, check whether you have enabled the “Reduce Loud Sounds” setting, and if you are using an ill-suited equaliser profile that is thinning out your signal. If everything is correct and your signal has a clear path, you can tailor it using the parametric equaliser (PEQ) in the Sennheiser Smart Control Plus app. It allows for very precise adjustments and makes good use of the audio signal headroom. Bonus: You’ll also find all other settings for the HDB 630 in this app, so you don’t have to jump between apps, menus, and settings to get everything just right.

Notice the low end: The HDB 630’s sub-bass and mid-bass are quick and controlled, staying closer to neutral. This reduces any “masking” effects that can hide vocal detail. Moving into the lower mids, the HDB 630 remains smooth and even, keeping voices present and lifelike.

In the upper mids, there’s a tasteful lift that gives vocals a richer, more intimate presence, balanced by a still-neutral bass foundation.
